Mutt

I'd forgotten about this one. I would have really love it, but the neg was damaged beyond repair by a demon-possessed neg dryer. Still makes me a little sad. Anyway, though I'd share it, as this is probably the only way it'll ever be seen. The smudged areas are where the emulsion melted.

On second thought, maybe I'll go hunt down that neg, if I didn't throw it away. Might be a rather unique print, done the right way. Or not.

No way! Do you live with your camera around your neck? What are the chances of each only with one eye showing! This is amazing. Please tell me didn't really throw the neg away. Please point out the smudged areas to my untrained eye. I can't even find them. Maybe because I can't take my eyes off of theirs! -Karen

I love this! A one eyed two eyed monster! Please tell me you didn't throw this negative away. I'm going to throw all mine away and dig in your dumpster!

Cheryl,
Like Jim and Karen, I am hard pressed to find the "Faults" you claim are present in this one.
D**m, you sure do good work.

Hey Cheryl:

Nice pic as always. If you like I can fix your scan in the computer and print a digital neg for a contact print. Maybe an 8x10 or 11x14?

Cheryl,

Lovely shot.

The blurring doesn\'t look too bad from what I can see of the scan. Rather than trying to hide it, have you considered diffusing more of the image during printing to make it a feature of the print?

It\'s far too good a shot to discard!

All the best,

Frank

Thanks, Frank. Yes, diffusion is what I had in mind when I mentioned playing with the print. It's a tricky one, though, because the eyes and hair needs to remain as sharp as possible, and I don't want to further diffuse the smudgy parts (the rollerblades, and the area by the dog's feet at the right side.) Precision diffusion -- difficult, but possible. A considerable amount of dodging and burning was done, given that the girl's face was entirely shaded. Good thing I love a challenge.

A mere bagatelle for someone of your capabilities! (I used to work at a place where this was a standing joke recited whenever anyone was handed the unpleasant end of the stick!)

Hope it turns out well. It's definitely one for the wall (and the website)!

Cheryl, this image is definitely worth the effort! I hope you manage to 'save' it. Please show it to us if you do.
