jtk: Thanks! In this case, low-intensity spotlights were creating pools of light on the animal figures, so I had to get close to each one to get a reflected reading. The rest of the room was much darker. The only exposure I cared about was the figures and I was mindful that the closest one was completely black. I tried not to let the bright silver badge influence the reading too much. I metered off that one and figured to underexpose 1-2 stops. I wanted the background animal to also be in the shot (obviously OOF), so I also metered that one up close and figured to overexpose about 1 stop. Both calculations came to about the same exposure. I believe I ended up using 1/15 sec @ f:2. These figures were about the size of carousel horses, so less than 1/2 life size.
Didn't do any burning-in on this print, so the light fall-off was exactly as seen here. The negative was obviously very thin, except for the highlights.
