Muchalls Bay

First ever image post to APUG so be gentle ;-)
I scanned the print before spotting. Which was a little stupid.
This shot was taken a few weeks ago at Muchalls bay (just outside Aberdeen). I had gone along with a friend from the local camera club at dawn but it was a wash out. I'd never taken a 'misty' water shot before so it seemed like the ideal opportunity.
This is the second time I've selenium toned a print. The last paper I tried took about 8 mins for a subtle in tone and it was disappointing. This is Kentmere Kentona and it toned dramatically in seconds!

Lovely shot, Dave! I especially love the misty feel the long exposure has given the water. (PS Was that gentle enough?! )

Well done.

I too like the misty feel to this. Keep up the good work.

I could look at hundreds of this type of image and never get bored with them. Press the shutter and let Mother Nature do her thing! Lovely.

Very nice Dave.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. This was the first print I've done in the darkroom for quite a while, and certainly the first tray-processing (as opposed to drum) I've done in about 10 years. It was a lot of fun!

Nice subject texture and print quality. The effect of white spray or foam around the rock in the upper left creates a strong center of interest.

mist effect is getting a bit cliche these days for me. I wish the rock in the upper left was in better focus. It seems to be the focus of the image

I always like misty water images like this. Nice one. I think that you will find that different papers will respond differently to toning. Also, different strengths of toner will have different effects. Keep working with it and you will soon be better able to previsualize the print when you are making the negative.
