Another image of Dandelions in my back yard, made with the RealitySoSubtle 6x17 pinhole camera on a small tripod early May. (Fuji NPC160 in Fuji C-41 developer, exposure 40 seconds)
Those are Dandelions. The English common name is a corruption of the French "Dents De Lion" (Lion's Teeth) after the shape of the leaves. A terrible weed to gardeners or a wild flower if you prefer!
Unfortunately they have a long tap root and having the leaves chewed off doesn't kill them. That's why they survive in lawns despite being mowed. They can be eaten by humans I believe but the modern, common French name is "Pis-en-lit" as the leaves are a diuretic. Glad your sheep and horses like them! I think they are very pretty.
