MSA - Cheap Camera and film - 11x14 Pinhole

OK! So I did it, I'm now and Ultra Large Format Photographer ... (with a crappy pinhole camera that needs... some work).

Looks like I didn't have any light leak issues, but I DID have some uneven development in the center (as well as tons of trouble working with such a large sheet in the dark and loading it, leading to scratches etc, but hey, first time ever making my own camera, first time using a pinhole, and first time using anything larger than 4x5, give me some slack...)

The MSA is cheap cameras and cheap film... the TOTAL cost of this 11x14 image ...

11x14 x-ray film ($30 for 100 sheets= $0.30 per image!!)

Cardboard box, tape, flat black paint, FREE courtesy of my parents.

20cc's of Rodinal ($13/ 500ml bottle = $0.52 per image!!).

$0.30+$0.52= a whopping $0.82 camera!!! In 11x14!!!!!!

Beat that!!

Stone, you're a brave man to toss that 82 cents to the winds. What will your girl say when you order a salad instead of a steak the next time you take her to a fine white tablecloth restaurant in NYC?

how in the world did you scan that?
Thanks everyone... Bethe, I was pretty careful to paint everything flat black and there's nothing in that area of the box that would cause a reflection smack dab in the middle, but I'll try again and see.... I scanned it in two parts, my Epson V750 does 8x10 so I'm able to get just enough on the wide part to then "stitch" them together in photoshop (something I had to learn how to do just now in order to post this as one image) however the top and bottom are both cut off about 1 inch total so this is really a 10x14... I COULD have scanned it in 4 sections and stitched it that way, but I didn't feel the top and bottom were so important that they had to be exact, I'll try and plan from now on to keep everything more in center so as to plan for the cropping, but make sure its still interesting outside the 10" area in case I contact print them further down the line.
