hoffy, I shot these two images as part of a series for an lighting assignment when I was in photography school back in the mid 90's. As you might have guessed, it revolves around the use of fluorescent lighting. I had a lot of fun with this assignment.

I asked on the other image which Velvia, but now that I know it was in the 90's I'm guessing this is "original" Velvia, but a 50ASA film? that became Velvia50 later on? So you DID use a filter... for the Florescent? is it just the florescent filter or some other trick?

StoneNYC, I pulled the original transparencies from film storage and I was mistaken on the film that it was shot on. The film was Kodak Extachrome 100 Plus Professional / EPP. Sorry about the mistake. If memory serves me correctly (20 years ago), the fluorescent lamps were cool white. The first exposure was with a blacked out studio with the fluorescent lamps turned on and then off. A 40M+10Y Kodak Wratten gel filters in front of the lens for this exposure. The second exposure was with Norman strobes ( grids, spots and soft boxes). The models had to hold still for the first exposure. I had to edit out the shots that there was movement. I made the jail cell door with the fluorescent lights built in, cell brick wall and the stone tablet. The cloud background was rented from a prop shop. The "halo" was a circleline fluorescent lamp attached to a light stand with the ballast wired remotely. The prisoner outfit was rented from a costume shop. Moses furnished his own robe. I shot a bunch of test shots to dial in the exposures before the final shot. Thanks for the interest on how this all came together.

Thanks for the details, this makes sense that its K EPP instead, I can see that. Great info, what a process, amazing how things change.
