John- The color can add a little contrast and density. It also covers up some of the coating flaws.

Well done, Mr. Gunks. Did you use two layers? Any sizing?

Troy- I'm not that Eddie. It's two layers, applied with foam brushes. No sizing.

Troy- I'm using 3 different Fabriano Artistico papers. 2 are fairly smooth (including the one I used for this one), and one has more texture, as in this one: http://www.apug.org/gallery1/showimage.php?i=67441&catid=member&imageuser=7387 I'm not seeing too much difference between the smoother papers, but I do like how the textured paper makes them look less like photographs. PS- No offense taken on the misidentification...
