Pretty much a standard high key setup; two strobes bounced into umbrellas and pointed to white seamless background. Monica is lighted in typical butterfly lighting, with a reflector from below to open the shadows.

She was one of the easiest people I have ever had to photograph. My wife and I were in our favorite club, listening to our favorite band. I saw her and thought "I HAVE to photograph her!". She had that kind of face and smile that you just cannot resist. She of course was reluctant, saying she didn't consider herself very pretty or photogenic. I gave her my card, which has my website on it and got an email the next day. The rest as they say folks, is history.........

I did heavily "dodge" the majority of the lower part in PS to simulate a high key vignette. When I print it I will just dodge the area like I did here.

Really beautiful portrait.
A beautiful lady, but also an excellent lightning.

I understand you used to strobes at the background. But did you use two others and a reflector to make the butterfly light?

(Would like to have a look at your website, but could not find it)

I did not need two strobes apart from the two background lights to do butterfly (or "glamour") lighting, only one. It was a 550 WS strobe in a 24" x 30" softbox, placed pretty much directly in front of and above Monica, while someone else held a white 36" circular reflector underneath, around her waist, and slightly to the right to fill in the shadows.

Nice shot! What type (brand/model) scanner did you use? Any particular settings?

I use an Epson V700 for medium and large format. For 35mm I use a Nikon LS-2000.
