A great Dutch scene. I never fails to amaze me that in 2019 there are so many bikes or style of bikes that would have been there in 1949.
Are these just old but well kept bikes or is there still a manufacturer of such bikes? In the new British throw-away society all such bikes disappeared years ago. We are no longer a society in the U.K. that prides itself on maintaining bikes or much of anything else unfortunately

There are about 850.000 bikes in Amsterdam - number of kilometres cycled by Amsterdammers each day are about 2 million km ! (source: Fietsersbond)
There are plenty of bicycle manufactures in the Netherlands and most of them build bikes in the traditional 'Dutchbike' style. Lot's of vintage bikes too.
Thanks macfred. I hadn't realised these kind of bikes were still being made. Clearly there is a completely different and much better "mindset" in Holland towards the use of bikes. We need to start to look seriously at the Dutch example before we poison all our kids with fumes
