A good shot with great detail. Can I ask how you metered this. If it had been me, my fear would have been that, given the amount of sky, I'd have "silhouetted " the metal structure or "blown" the sky.
@pentaxuser Thanks, it was quite a challenge! I am currently using a metering app on my iPhone, it seems to give me a pretty good spot. I metered this roll of Tri-x at 320. I tried to meter on the bulk of the metal about 1/3 up in the photo. Printing it was a bear. I used a split grade technique (which I'm a big fan of using a diffusion head) and it took about 4 attempts to get it right. I tried 3 times last night, but it wasn't working out, but I nailed it today.
Is that the one down by the Jerome State Historic Park?
If so, .. years and years ago it was still in use the first time we went to the museum there, it doesn't have any cables now, so the mine must have closed down. Watched it in operation from the west side of the museum grounds, which are above it. Visualizing all the old mining tunnels under it and all around the Jerome area, that was shown in a model inside the museum.
The Historic Park was, and must still be, quite a place, worth the visit.for the history it gives of Jerome and the area, and your great shot, gonna make me visit it again soon.
Thanks... p. .
Hi Peter, yes it's the one down by the park. Thanks for the compliment. I like to get up to Jerome at least once a year. Lots of history and a great place to enjoy an afternoon.
PhxMedFormatPhotog, thanks for the reply. I was afraid that getting this one right might involve more than just a good spot reading on the metal and so it would seem.
