My apologies, the exposure was 1 second at f/16. No idea what I was thinking when I posted the photo.
 
The shot is very eye catching and dramatic. But the sky area seems to be heavily pix elated, is this due to the scanner?

Yup, the scan doesn't do justice to the pure solid black of the sky. The print looks much better.
