Part of an ongoing 'Beard' project that is exploring the paradigm of commitment and the limitations that long term commitments places on identity--how we are known. I remain fascinated at that inter-play between the two in those that can withstand the numerous changes in fashion/appearance. There is no shortage of beards in Asheville.

Always enjoy your portraits, Monty. This is no exception. Plus, he looks like an older version of me with my bald head and winter beard! The pose and stare appear very "real" to me. Not sure how you manage that with your cumbersome equipment.... Nice work! Shawn

Monty, I really like his gaze. It's 'timeless.'

I will say that his hand looks huge compared to his face.
I'm not sure if it's the angle or if he just has large hands...
