Mesquite Dunes

It was the amazing dark tones that drew me to this scene and I must say I'm thrilled with the way the Ansco 130 I've been using lately rendered them.

This was the first photograph I made out west, we arrived in the desert during the night and I could hardly see a thing. When I awoke the next morning and walked outside I was simply amazed. This was made from the top of the highest dune I climbed that day, definately one sunrise I'll never forget.

Thanks Andrew,
The print is quite dark and the scan looks great on my monitor at home. I'm looking at this on my monitor at work now and it's way too light and looses much... Oh well, so is the way of digital. Thanks again. Best. Shawn

Shawn, amazing print! The cracked surface in the foreground is an interesting twist I haven't seen before. Well seen. I love especially the tonal variations in the dunes in the distant, and yet again the contrast between the sky and those same dunes. Lots of interesting relationships like that.

Hey Doc,
This looks great. I especially like how the cracked mud relates to the shape of the sky. Good work.

Spectacular photograph, Shawn. The composition is very interesting and the supple tones in the dunes transform them into something otherworldly. Fantastic!

All the best,
Daniel

Thanks for the great response fellows. Sometimes the print really is just a bonus to the experience, this was one of those times. Best. Shawn
