Was the car moving slowly? The sharpness of the star on the wheel hubcaps contrasts with the pan-induced blur, indeed with the blur of the nose (which seems to be moving more than the rear of the car ...)
Its hard to tell how fast the car was going at this point. Lets just say, faster then 40 mph, slower then 100! And why is the nose more blurry then the rest of the car? Its all in the technique. The only way to get the whole car sharp when panning is to get the car dead side on. As the lens and the car are moving in a different plain, not all of the car will be sharp. I am not sure whether its what people like or not, but this is the effect I am trying to achieve.
