I hiked a little to the east to set up this shot. There is a problem with the neg. The sky is blotchy and the right side is messed up. I think I can burn down the sky a little and crop the right. What do you think?
Matt, thanks I think that may be a good idea. I have to find out what I did wrong. I know that Efke can be a bitch to use if you have sky in the image but I think it may be a processing error on my part. I'm going to try some things on the next printing and I'll post the results.
Looks nice. Shame about the processing fault (gotta hate that!). I'm being plagued by a couple of fogging gremlins right now so I can sympathize.
The mottling is the sky sort of looks like clouds (though unusual/unreal ones). Just the right burns / dodges might work here. I'd almost burn the mountain a bit, but dodge the messiest part of the sky in the upper left.
Worst case, you crop the whole top half of the image and turn the remainder upside down
I'm going to spend some time with this image. I'm thinking I may have not had enough developer the tank or maybe it was my agitation. I like the edge effects I get with Efke-25 and minimal agitation and this is the first time I've had any problems. The nice thing about 8x10 negs is there is a lot to work with.
I would suggest trying it with almost the top 1/2 of the photo cropped, so that the mountain is only visable in the water and the trees are the top of the photo.
