I think IT will work well on an 8x10 or 11x14 print where the ferns will be emphasized and the background will add contrast.
It is difficult to expose here because of the file size limitations. If you make a large print and take a digital photo, it will work well here.

The shallow DoF works for me. Most of the visual activity seems to be happening in the softer areas, yet still works nicely. Looks like the moment we just start to look up from what's at our feet
The straight line of the trunk cutting across the curve of the stream being in the center of the image creates some visual tension. An old instructor talked about the straight and jagged being male forms and the curved and flowing being female forms. Interesting and not to be over-thought, but might apply here.
