Taken outside "Bobby's" in Greyfriars. The story is the dog Greyfriars Bobby was fed in the cafe. This attracts many tourists to the cafe and the statue of the dog just outside the cafe.
And now for the serious question: do you pre-focus on an object about the same distance from the camera as your intended subject, then swing the camera around and fire it? Apart from the possibility that you can deploy an invisibility shield I can’t imagine how you get some of these candid shots. But I’m glad you do--they’re always a treat to see.

Thanks Tel. I do sometimes pre-focus on an object about the same distance from the camera as my intended subject. And I sometimes swing the camera round and press the shutter. For this image I focused on the signage on the window.......easily done with the Konica......probably f5.6 and 125th. I do it very quickly so the subject doesn't notice. This guy in this image turned his head towards the window just as I was pressing the shutter. That was luck, which you need taking photographs in the street. I was taking shelter under a canopy....the rain was hammering down. I was sharing the space with other people and just turned and saw the possibility of the photograph. It all depends on what camera I'm using.
If it's a tourist attraction as it surely is with connections to Greyfriars Bobby then I do not understand why it does sell anything "wee".When in there next time suggest they take a leap of faith and list "Braw Wee Brownies"
