There's a long tradition going back many years of protest on Edinburgh's Mound. The Young Communist League made an appearance for this protest.

Wow Is there still such an organisation as the Young Communists in these times? Reminds me of Students in the late 60s

I assume that the foreground banner and that of the banner behind is a bright red. Am I right Not always easy to work out colours in b&w 🙂

Yes the dominant colour would be red. The Edinburgh branch of the Young Communist League is affiliated to the Marxist-Leninist youth wing of the Communist Party of Great Britain. They turn up periodically at various demos and marches throughout the city, especially the MayDay march. I don't know if they are affiliated to the Edinburgh brach of The Communist Party, but it's more than likely they are. I've developed a sepia toned print of this neg but unfortunately my flatbed scanner refuses to scan in sepia. I prefer the sepia print.
