Yes indeed. This particular portion dates back to the 1850s. In the early 1960s there were 7 round trips a day for passengers between Philly and Bethlehem. Also featured were 1:00 am ore trains for the steel plant in Bet'lem; about 80 cars, 3 or 4 diesels on the front and one or two pushing. Serious ground shakers! Passenger service ended in 1981, the steel mill shut down in 1995, and the rails are ripped up in part of the right-o-way north of here, one stretch is a recreational trail.
