McDavid Portrait #2

8x10 wet plate collodion black glass ambrotype

I spent saturday afternoon at my best friend Mark's place down in San Antonio shooting some plates of him.
He is an avid and extremely talented mandolin/bouzouki/guitar/singer/songwriter.

Given that this is my first attempt at portraiture, I'd greatly appreciate any comments/thoughts/critiques

wow,
for a first attempt, i think it was a BIG success!
very well composed, and it shows you had good
rapport with your friend.

i look forward to more!

Another winner, but I want to see him playing the Bouzouki next time. Does he have music online somewhere we can hear?

Thanks K and John.
I had a pretty good time doing it.

thanks Bill.

Nice series, Matt. I particularly like this one.

All the best,
Daniel

These are great, Matt!

The "floating" hand seems disconnected from the rest of the image elements. We all know the hand belongs to the person, but for me it seems to float. I like the image's feel and tones. He appears to be tuning up getting ready to play. I'd love to see your understanding of him lost in his music while you are lost in your image making... just a thought..
