Yes, it does look like a lonely event but it might be a disguised Begbie and girlfriend outside the famous Corstorphine jewellers before committing armed robbery as detailed in the letter to Renton😎

I'm not sure about the significance or otherwise of the costumes. A few minutes after I took this photograph I spotted them on a lecture next to St Giles Cathedral. I thought they might be French.

The thought of a disguised Begbie and girlfriend outside the four Corstorphine jewellers is hilarious. Begbie was never fond of Renton.
