This ancient tree resides on the Robert Livingston Estate in Clermont, NY (it is now a NY State Park) which was first settled about 300 years ago.

It even may be a "virgin forest" tree that was never cut down. But, regardless, it is an ancient witness that would have seen Robert Fulton experiment with the first steamboat at this site two centuries ago.

Nice shot George. I like old trees too and have often wondered at what events have taken place during their long lives.
