Old house in "downtown" Martindale, TX.
I shot this the other day on my way down to San Antonio, taken very late in the day as the sun was setting at my back. Printed it last night.
I like the idea a lot (the trees in front of the house), but the fact that the top of the house was cut off and the house is crooked kind of bothers me.
I kind of have to agree with mcfactor. The cut off on the top isn't as bad as I can feel the house is tipping. I'm not sure making the base straight and having the top off level would make it better but it might. over all the print and photo is still very good.
I think the house itself is not level, which is not uncommon with these older buildings. I have a church photograph where it looks like the camera is not level, but it is - the building is leaning back quite a bit after all those years.
When using an older ULF camera, you often work with the limited movements which I think is what Matt did here. The choice to include the top of the building becomes a personal one - some will like it others will not.
BTW, the comments are valid, as this is the critque gallery, just offerring additional information for consideration. A step or two back might have included the top, but may have introduced some other distracting element in the forground.
