I love the look of this photo, great expression, obvious comfort of the subject with you. If I have a small criticism, it would be that I would like to see a really clearly sharp spot (like the eyes) to really draw the eye. This could of course be a failure of the scan vs the actual print, and it may just be my preference. Small quibbles aside, I love it.
You are all so kind. To be honest this was simply a shot of my daughter for a school-bus pass, so it was not taken with massive planning and care! Nevertheless it was on my first roll of Pan F for a couple of decades. What a nice film and just where is the grain? Also I have been trying out the Kentmere WT paper and this seemed a suitable subject. Yes, I'm pleased with the result. The paper gives the image a curiously dated look (which does not come over on the scan).
No, it is not as sharp as I would really like it to be, but it is about as good as it gets at 1/8s with a giggly 10 year old.
Well, then, hats off to you sir! Obviously in my world it does take "massive planning and care" to produce this quality of image, so even more kudos are in order! I suppose the compliment is even more well deserved given the fact myself (and I assuem others) judged this photo (very highly I might add!) by the standards one would apply to a very serious attempt at portraiture! In other words, you make it look easy and I am painfully aware that "it" is not.
I was impressed at first, now I am humbled. Do show more!
