Marleen 3

Hi,
I'm needing your opinion in this one. I Can simply not decide if its a good one or a bad one. First I think its very powerfull and full of dynamic with the eye and the fist. but composition wise maybe someting is just not right.
hope you can give some good advice

thanx!

To me, if you want the fist to symbolize something, it might make sense to have it all in the frame. I would also crop off the top to avoid getting her eyes dead center, probably where the first 'sharp lock from from the background to front' comes back down onto her forehead. I would also burn in the upper right hand corner some, just a touch, and bump the contrast to make the texture in the ring, as well as her hair and eyes pop. Is there more in your frame? Can you drop down and get more of the fist?
She actually looks rather happy, at least that's the feedback I get from looking into her eyes, and I can almost detect a smile behind her fist. A fist almost contradicts her expression.

Is the fist the major subject? If so I would like to see more of it. I feel much like Thomas, and what he said I would try to do. On the other hand, if the face and expression are what you want to center on, the fist is brighter than the face, which
my eye see's it first. If it not the center of interest, I would print the fist down and allow the face be brighter thus drawing my eye directly to the face/expression. I really like what you have done, but am confused at what you want the photo to say to me.

I'm not much of a portrait fan, but I like how you've captured her. The fist balances the dark right shoulder, and points the viewer's eye to her eyes. It's a great shot that reveals a lot of emotion.

I'm ashamed to admit I'm not much good on technical stuff, but I know what I like when I see it and I like this! I wouldn't change a thing. The enigmatic smile behind her fingers, (I don't see it as a fist, just her cheek resting on her hand), the dreamy expression in the eyes, highlighted by the errant lock of hair is quite beautiful. We can only wonder what she's thinking. Like any good photograph, it's open to the viewer's interpretation.

Thanx every body for your very valuable comments. Ive made up my mind with the help of your opinions. Cropped some of the top to place the eye on 2 thirds and put a bit more contrast in it to make the eye and ring more Pop.

Cheers.
