From my coal mining series. I originally shot this on HP5+ 35mm. I enlarged it onto APHS film, developed in LC-1B developer at 1+5 dilution. The resulting positive was then contacted printed onto another sheet of APHS for the negative.
It is a bit labour intensive to get the working negative. Once that stock is gone though, it'll either be x-ray copy film or that other way that can't be mentioned here! Yes, it's from my coal mining series. Kind of hard to believe. There are a few houses near one of the mines. One of them had roses growing out in front. Absolutely stunning. The old lady gave me a snippet. She had a connection with the mine (like most people in the town). Her parents both worked in the mine. She went to the company school as a little girl. I told her what I had been doing over the years, so she gave me a snippet! I carried it around with me in the mine, shooting here and there, amongst the old brick buildings, as well as inside the old bath house. Well, the lighting in there was exquisite, and the rose looked amazing... so I photographed in the corner. Found an old jar to stand it up in. Kind of wish I shot it on my 8x10, but I had used up the two holders by then. But, I think it has a really nice softness to it that I don't think I could have gotten on 8x10...
Cheers!
