An amazing car parked outside a hotel on a rough stretch of Main Street. These dive bar hotels have gotten amazing makeovers of public art in the past few years.
Certainly a colorful place. I like that you caught the juxtaposition of the car with the wall painting. I don't remember Winnipeg being like that last time I was there - of course, that was about 1965.
These hotels probably date back a century or more, back to the times when railroads brought in visitors to the city and gentlemen required lodgings. Over time the rail ceased to haul much except grain, oil and junk sold in big box stores...and these hotels - once built for their proximity to the station - ceased to have that advantage. They became places where the poor found monthly lodgings and inexpensive beer in the pub, instead. I have to give a lot of credit to the artists and organizers who have a makeover to these buildings.
