This is nice, great even tone yet still allowing for definition in the skin. I'd like to know your lighting setup for this one, have an outtake where you have a wide angle of the scene with the lights in it? (I do that often to remember what the heck I did LOL).
verynice scott ..
i am curious though, how is this "visual conventions of Victorian era studio portraiture"
(other than the hanging drape/swag) ... and because you are using a 5x7 camera ?
john
It's the drapery, and also the light - although I don't have a daylight studio, I'm using the closest I can get with strobe with the big Fresnel. It's also a very preliminary work in a series - the idea hasn't fully matured.
i had a feeling it was the drape ... if i could suggest on the lighting ...
get a large softbox or hot lights about 7 feet UP + away
and don't really use much hard-fill lighting.
victorian studios had overhead skylights and used drapes to cover
the darkness+moodiness of a victorian era nude or portrait
was as much about what wasn't illuminated as it was about what was illuminated ..
have fun, looks like a fun and interesting series!
