This is from my long-term project photographing along the 62 miles of Lower Owens River and Owens River Delta area.
This is the focus of a major habitat restoration effort in Eastern California that is attempting to undo the ecological damage caused by the loss of Owens Valley water to Los Angeles that began in the early 20th Century.
Firstly, this is an excellent project, something I've been following in the news. Secondly, this is a great photograph. The textures of the mud are matched only by the movement provided by the tire tracks. Well done, Rich. doc
Thank you both for your comments. This project is fulfilling my desire for my work to simultaniously address my pictoral, personal, ecological and social concernes.
The Owens Valley has always been a very special place for me, and I felt for so long that I needed to photograph there in an in-depth way.
I plan on making 6-8 trips a year for the next 5-10 years. This was just the begining.
Again, thank you.
Richard
