Lower Ninth- Lith

This is my first lith version of a rather blah wide angle acros neg that I posted here recently:

http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=33485&ppuser=16571

The idea with the print is to flesh out the rather symbolic (I think) pyramidal figure and to convey the rather desperate circumstances around this levee beside the lower ninth ward in New Orleans.

The sky was burned in; one side of the 'pyramid' was dodged, the other side burned in.

This is a flatbed-scanned lith print on fiber.

Keith, I like this very much as it is. What if you burn the sky more and let some of the bright light come through by the smoke stacks? I'm thinking more drama in the sky and if you can get some beams of light coming out with a dark dramatic sky? Finding the balance is tough. I love the burns on the sides. Very nicely done.

Thanks Jim and Guillaume. I am glad that this print has come along. At first I thought it somehow dishonest to work the print so much, but... I guess the best policy is to keep trying different ways of thinking.

I'll try a few more things... thanks very much for the comments and suggestions!
