Lower Falls, Yellowstone

Very nice Shot Rich, I have shot that 100 times and still never got the look I wanted, nice muted colors, with a sense of stregth in it, great job!

Thanks guys for the compliments. This image was taken over the Columbus Day Weekend back in 1985. I had taken a few days off from the field work that led to my grad degree in Geology in the Ruby Range near Dillon in SW Montana. I arrived at Yellowstone in a snow storm. The Park was about to close the gates requiring that vehicles have either 4 wheel drive or chains. I was driving a rented Ford Bronco with the flip in front hubs, but never flipped them in place. When I got down to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and took this photo, it was cold and snowy. There were no guard rails at the location that I took the photo. I could have easily slid to my death from there. I used my Leica RSP hand held and 90mm Summicron set at 1/125 of sec to "freeze" the water. The Kodachrome 64 recorded the the cold day as it was with the muted greens, browns, and white and gives the feeling of the cold that I was feeling; but at the same time it did render the Lower Falls with all the power that it possesses.
