love on clay

small image (the original is smaller than this image), made using liquid emulsion on clay - hand coloured.
Pushing the boundaries as always! I guess the clay was baked in an oven before applying the emulsion and putting it through the chemicals?, or otherwise it would self destruct? Or is it really just dried clay?

yes - actually to get the best results you'll have to use stoneware clay, and burn it at a rather high temperature.

Then the clay will be as hard as stone (sic!) and no air will be left in the clay.

Using normal clay - when burned - there will be air in it, and that will try to "escape" when putting the image in a wet inviroment, causing big bubbles (or even braking) then emulsion..
