Neat one, Fred. 'Instantly liked it - its more carefully put together than others like it. Fool for old iron that I am - love the old lock in the foreground amidst the sea of color. But even the landscape of locks wouldn't have the interest w/out the street view - old cathedral spire & the lovers. Nicely done.
Great shot Fred. I have almost the same image, digital though. I have heard that they are starting to remove some of them with concerns about the weight. Might make it up to Koln sometime this summer with my local photo club, will have to do a lunch and photo walk with you.
@HiHoSilver Thank you, Mr. Silver - I appreciate your comment ! @Doug Richardson Thank you, Doug - I'm not a local resident in Cologne, but a tourist...
If you are going to Cologne, please lrt me know; maybe we can arrange a meeting.
@macfred do you know how long those locks have been accumulating there on the bridge? Cool photograph! I have not been to Koln probably since the late 80's. The cathedral was amazing to view from street level. I thought double spires but probably the angle of the photo above.
One thing i always remember about my visits in the Koln city center is where i first became aware of the policy/law to shut the car motor off when stopped at a red light.
Best regards to Mia - just opened your flikr and saw her on the bridge by the locks. I always think of her when i watch an old Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie -after the song "They Can't Take That Away From Me" from the movie Shall We Dance... something about the way she wears her hat...
