Very nice work Daniel...the thumb made me think it was flower (did not look at the title until just now) the lighting, detail are all very good - IMO. Did ya' even dare to breath while making this...how long was the exposure?
Thanks, Mike. The leaf is (or was) actually about 18" across- pretty big, so I didn't have to worry much about it moving during the exposure (approx. 32 secs). I photographed it indoors with a single lamp illuminating the leaf from behind. It's hard to get a sense of scale without any objects for reference in the frame. All the best, Daniel
Thanks Daniel, indoors does make it much easier to control....have you given any thought to printing this as plt/pld? Not sure if you do any alt process, but really think this would make a beautiful plt/pld print and in 4x5 it would have such a classic look to it matted and framed...just a thought.
Hey Mike, I've tried my hand at kallitype printing with less than mediocre results, which reflects my paltry knowledge of and experience with alt processes. As much as I am tempted to explore these processes more, I'm resigned to leaving them for a later date- too many obligations and so little time (and funds!). Sigh. Thanks for the suggestion. All the best, Daniel
