The title lends a great deal to this image for me. It draws a significant attention to that small line of bricks along the bottom, plays nicely against the physical fact of him looking down and also adds another level to the shadow extending back across the frame (for us left to right readers). A fine composition as well.
 
This picture reminds me of retired guys walking around our town punching in their day by taking interest in every little thing they come across. As a retired person myself I have time to notice this. There's a river flowing through our town and it's amazing the number of people I see standing on it's bank watching the river flow. Apart from that I like the clarity and exposure contol of your picture. And as Shawn says it's also a fine composition.
