These are the last of the mighty steam locomotives of the 3rd Reich. Built around 1935-1940. These locomotives where in service in the former DDR (East Germany). They where retired in 1990-1991 after the fall of the Berlin wall. Certainly out lasted Hitlers 1000-year 3rd Reich.
Dragon Hrt,
I have a cousin who is a loco enthusiast. Is there any way you could send me the file of this image so I could send it to him. I know it would produce a good cry from him.
Looks good. Cropping to cut out the towers might improve it even more. They are a little distracting. I am not sure what improvement a filter would have produced. It looks like a cloudless blue sky which on the scan hasn't turned out as a featureless white. If you can get this kind of grey on the print it will represent in B&W the kind of sky it was which is all you can ask for. Again by cropping you can eliminate a lot of the sky which will help.
DragonHrt,
I really enjoy this photo, but not sure about the towers, especially since they lean.
I would like more local contrast on the parts of the train, but then the featureless sky would go completely white, instead of the gray that it is now.
This is a great subject. I think I could spend about a year here.
Do you have more?
