Llyn Crafnant

We enjoyed a remarkable week over New Year near Betws-y-Coed in Wales. Remarkable because we had bright sunshine and sub-zero temperatures every day! It was -6C when I took this shot just after dawn. The pre-dawn shots had amazing light but the colours have come out very strange - not what I'd normally expect from Velvia 100. Not sure why.

We walked up onto the hill in the distance (Crimpiau) to welcome in dawn on New Year's day. It was -9C and when we began the walk the stars were incredibly clear, then dawn began to introduce a wonderful pink glow and then the rising sun highlighted temperature inversions in the valleys. A wonderful way to welcome in the new year.
