Thanks for the comments! Yes Andrew, I wanted to keep the injured tree in focus. It's part of a little project, documenting the destruction of one loony person who keeps cutting trees in my neighbourhood. A small cut around the tree and they can't be saved. He or she has so far done at least 2000 of them! Then I noticed the little tree in the background and gave the other picture a more cheerful approach.
 
Thanks Sara... As for the guy doing this to these trees, is this an unsolved crime that the authorities are investigating? He does seem like a complete lunatic if he's done this to 2000 trees! Wow. Great image and thanks for the clarification. I prefer the darker one out of the two as it appears more brooding and sinister....which portrays this lunatic quite well!
 
Yes, it's been in the paper for over a year but he/she has not been cought yet.
Even stranger it is only christmas trees affected, all other species are being left alone...
