Lion's Head, Palazzo Medici-Riccardi

A lion's head carving on the pedestal to a statue in the courtyard of the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi in Florence. You can see the Medici coat of arms in the shield on the right - the six gold balls from which the pawnbroker's three gold balls are derived.

Scary picture, but I thought we were not allowed more than 5 images on the gallery at any one time?
 
The maximum is 5 per day. This is my only image posted today. I posted four yesterday. If it matters that much to you, I can delete something else I've posted, but I'd rather see you participate with a constructive comment (or PM me with your concern) rather than try to take me to task in a public forum over administrivia.
 
The light and shade adds to the scariness and what I see as internal pain in the beast . If someone had asked me if this would have made a difference then picturing it in my mind's eye I'd have said "No" and I'd have been wrong
