Very nice, however I find the DoF distracting. My eyes want to be taken up the path to see the lighthouse, they want some clarity and detail but when they get there it's diffused. So I end up going back down to the gate and instead of getting the feeling that I'm welcome to cross the threshold, I'm obliged to stay this side of the fence.

I like this subject and the symmetry and rhythm a lot. For me, though, the sky isn't interesting enough to keep except for the area just above the lighthouse. You might want to use a dark yellow filter next time to coax more drama from the clouds...the K2 just isn't getting it done IMHO!

What a perfectly and simply composed image! I agree with earlier poster saying the clouds add a lot, here.

I see you point but cropping the sky would change the character of the picture to me. Now it has a rather calm and quiet effect, and if cropped it has a more dynamic or sinister effect due the lower clouds perhaps sending a message of a coming storm. So I think this is just one you have to live with, and never reaches a 10 but still a good solid 8. Perhaps it's one where if one waited a while the upper clouds may have cooperated a bit more.

Thank you all again for the very interesting and considered comments....always a pleasure! This can be improved at the printing stage, but sometimes you just have to go with the prevailing conditions and the camera that you have around your shoulder...I was traveling light.

Not a criticism, just a thought ... if you crop out approximately the top half of the sky the lighthouse becomes more "important" and what appears to possibly rain in the distance adds more to the sky.
