I would have preferred some interest in the sky but it was completely overcast. This was a bit hurried as 2 people appeared with an enormous tripod (and some d*g*t*l camera thing) and stood right in front of me. They are actually in the photo. Quite why they needed a tripod and I didn't......
Amazing structure and nice view of it. Darn people with their electric gadgetry! Humph! Anyway, nice photo. Looks like a good place to set up a big sheet film camera an a clear day.
Thanks. The central spire is 252 feet high. It is beautiful cathedral but by UK standards quite small which gives it a certain charm. It was heavily damaged and desecrated during the English Civil War (1643-1646). Yes, you could set up a big camera but you would need a wide angle lens. For me, 28mm was not wide enough but 24mm was (which is just as well because I have nothing wider than that). It is a lovely city. Charles Darwin's father, Erasmus Darwin and Dr Johnson (of dictionary fame) were both from Lichfield. Erasmus Darwin was a famous physician and polymath.
I have to confess that I was at a conference and I bunked off the last (extremely dull) talk of the day in order to take photographs . The light was failing but I did get some pictures.
