Les Halles, Paris

In a visit to Les Halles and the George Pompidu Center, Paris, long time ago, in my way out, I discovered this mechanic stairs, with the "Burse" (stock exchange) building at the top of them. I loved the scene and made the shot at my waist level, ASAP. Some people tell me that there is a lot of "floor" in the foreground, but it's a consequense of using a 50 mm lens and trying to keep leveled the camera in order of not produce a "distorted perspective". What do you think?, may I have to crop the bottom of it, lets say, 1/4 of the whole composition, or, may I leave it full frame.

Don't crop. The floor tiles lead the eye towards the stairs. I like the picture.

Wow. At first it looks like an ancient ziggurat. What a surprise to find escalators upon a closer look! As for cropping - the area of darkness gives a nice balance to the area of light, and you have some nice detail in the floor. But - if you hold your hand over the bottom portion it does become a "tighter" composition. I guess it depends on what you're hoping to say. The darkness adds to the "ancient mystery" feeling.

DO NOT CROP...at least that would be my vote. It changes the feel of the image and IMO is not nearly as strong as it is here. Very nice work

An excellent image ... but I would crop is down to 35mm film format. Try it, I think you'll like it.

I agree with Hortense. I would crop, reduce the the expanse of black empty space at the bottom by a 1/4, you will still have those tiles that lead you to the stairs. Nice photo.

There you go ! I am for cropping just a bit below the foreground figure. I guess you can do as you like Jose.

Maybe instead of cropping bleaching the tiles a little bit might make a more dramatic shot. For my taste I like it better uncropped. I placed a white piece of paper over the monitor and frankly cropping did not improve the picture IMO.

I see three potential images here. One is as it is presented. Another would be to crop up from the bottom to just below the standing figure. The third would be to crop down from the top to just above the head of the standing figure to emphasize those wonderful shadows.

It is well thought and well done and I would crop it, but only 10 to 15 % at the lower edge. Not more
