Lenticular Clouds Over Mono Lake

Rich's wonderful photograph just reminded me of this one, which I'd been meaning to scan. It's from ~ 2 years ago.

As I recall, the wind was blowing like crazy and my darkcloth was flying in all directions, hence I didn't see that I was up against the falloff of the image circle. (the lens I was using was a 135, if memory serves)

Anyway, it's from the edge of the volcano crater near Mono Lake.

Thanks guys! Yes, Rich, the tranny is much more impressive than the scan. For the longest time I thought it was a failure because of the falloff. I am slowly warming to it.

Bill, as you know, Mono Lake sits right beside a mountain range and the lenticulars form in great abundance over that ridge. Plus there is the alpenglow which comes quite early and predictably. It strikes me as a great place for videography or time-lapse work. Somebody should set up a picture-a-day time lapse unit, I bet you'd get a spectacular video out of it!
