One can get lost in the detail. Since this is a negative scan, I would print it a tad lighter on high contrast paper (something like a Grade 4). That would also enhance textures of bark and cut surface
@Peter Rockstroh01: I tried not to fiddle with the image, as to preserve what I got from the negative, if that makes any sense. It was a cloudy day and the wood was humid. But I agree about the contrast!
@HiHoSilver: I didn't tell the whole story, but the owner came to ask me why I was taking pictures of the wood. It was a really funny situation, he almost fell off the motorbike when he arrived. Thanks for the comments!
