This is my first attempt at 8x10 portraiture. The lens was a 600mm at about a 1:2 magnification ratio. I shot at F32 and was pleased with the results. Carefull viewers will see that the negative scan had some Newton's Rings problems. I look forward to printing the negative on silver-gelatin paper.

Good to see others attempting large format portraits. Thanks for sharing.

Very crisp! Go for the LF portraits. I've tried it a couple of times, without much success.

Nice, well done! The smile alone is worth more than the price of all the camera equipment in the world!

What a great photo and Charles is right - the smile is what makes it - it's definitely a hanger-upper!!

Thanks for the supportive comments! I was worried that even f32 wouldn't be enough to get enough depth of focus, but it worked out ok. On a print her irises are very, very sharp, which doesn't come through in the on-line version. I wish that I knew how to tame fly-a-way hair.

i just posted to the LF forum about LF portraits and lights. what kind of light did you use for this? how much Ws?
