Land of Standing Rocks

I never thought about printing this negative till last night. This was a trip from August into the Maze District of Canyonlands NP. I was experimenting with a film and developer combo I was unfamiliar with.

This is Fomapan 400 35mm, developed in 2:2:100 Pyrocat HD for 12 minutes at 68. It really accentuates the grain and has a very distinct contrast curve as far as I can tell.

I printed this on Ilford MGIV RC Pearl, developed in Dektol, toned for 20 minutes in Kodak Brown 1:20 at 68, and then a final tone in selenium for 1:9 for 5 minutes.

Strange? Yes. I am enjoying experimenting with different contrast and over/under exposure to achieve certain moods. This is a harsh landscape that had high clouds and building storms. I hope I caught that well.
