This is a set of 70mm expired film images I took earlier this year, it was a hard time for me, I had just learned of my fathers cancer, he's healing well now but at the time it was a heavy weight ... I tried to focus on my work, I feel like my sadness comes through in each photo.
I like this series, they invoke a lot of memories of NYC for me, which I love. I love NYC. The bleakness you felt really comes through, for the most lively city on earth, there is not a soul in sight. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I always pay attention to my framing but have a tendency to lean to the left for some reason I've noticed over the years. I try to correct it, I wasn't thinking about how nice the perforations looked until after I had seen them, wish I had kept the camera straighter for the rest, they were all hand held shots, I'm actually surprised any came out, some were shot at like 1/15 second... I may have used the mirror up function, which leaves you blind, which may be why some are slightly crooked... this one though was on the ground, stabilized, and stopped down, this might have been a second or two...
Hi Stone, I am sorry to hear about the tough times you and your family faced. I've been through them a few times in my family and it is not easy. I hope your father's health continues to improve. Looking at this series there is a definite sense of what you must have been experiencing. Perhaps it is just me and thinking back to the emotions that I felt during similar circumstances, but I get a definite feel of isolation with the subway shots and disconnect with the other two. I'd be interested to see other shots from the series if you have any. Aaron

I'd be interested to see the rest of the series too, sadly the slight light leak on some of them was full light on others, It's 70mm so the 15 feet of film loads on to an impossible to find spiral/reel and then you need the tank, which virtually does not exist, so much so I've never even seen one and only heard rumors, I THINK I've seen what might be one on someone's flickr once, but alas it wasn't a good angle. So I had to invent my own tank (which can be seen in the home camera mods forum post) which worked great the first few times, until I used it during the day right next to the window DOH! so it's light resistant in dim light but not light tight, so I lost a lot of images and then I didn't load the spool completely correctly and a few rounds jumped the track so some didn't develop, it's what's made me think twice about shooting expired 70mm, I just have a lot of fun with it and you can go around all day and only finish a roll with 50-60 images if it's a long day... but it's a pain to develop... I could probably sell all the gear for more than $500 considering how hard it is to attain, I still don't have a 70mm Loader so I re-spool by hand in a dark bag... for the love of the game...
I like the whole series. How a person feels often comes through in their work, and the viewer can sense that something's disturbing the photographer. "Pretty"? Maybe not... But meaningful, which to me is more important.
