Kissing

Kissing

Taken on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, last fall. You can see the galleries of the Uffizi in the background.

It took some serious burning to get the background more detailed. I can't remember any clouds, so I'm not sure why the sky looks a bit smudgy, perhaps due to sloppy burning?

You have a problem with the burning, the highlights in the background must be overexposed, and perps also slightly overdeveloped.

Have a look at flashing to bring in the details.

I like your photograph. I agree that flashing would help bring the detail in more effectively than burning. I would prefer the full view of the distant photographer...or more likely cropping the part of the figure out.

I think Donald has hit the nail on the head. Of the two options showing both photogs and the kissing couple, each oblivious of the other parties would be the ideal composition.

I second Sanders comments. The burning creates a very unnatural looking halo around some of the subjects in addition. It's definitely an image with lots of potential.

Sanders has a point about the background, and burning in ruins the image.

However flashing should be used to subtlety bring in the background and particularly the sky. It's not so much about bringing out the full detail rather hinting that it's there.
