After I posted a [url=
http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=23168]previous version[/url] of this image in the critique gallery, I got some useful feedback. After several weeks, I finally had time to get back in the darkroom and print the negative again.
I've cropped this version differently. I wish I could include the second photographer on the left, but only his arm was in the frame so I decided to crop it out.
Following Ian Grant's advice, I preflashed the paper to bring out the details. This gave, to quote Sanders McNew: "enough visual cues in the flared-out version to tell the story that this is timeless love in a timeless place, without being overly literal."
I'm very pleased with the result and would like to thank everyone who contributed their critique to the first image.
