Kinbane Castle, County Antrim, is situated on a long, narrow limestone headland projecting into the sea, approximately 5km from Ballycastle. As you can see, not much of Colla MacDonnells mid 16th century fortification remains today. Access is prohibited as the stepped path down to the headland and onto the castle is steep and treacherous, but, hey, whoever followed the instructions given on warning signs! This was taken from just below the said path.
Thanks again for your comments. I also prefer this to the others that I took that afternoon. Yes, the print is punchier - better even than comes across from the scan made on my cheap machine. I printed this one at grade 3.5 and like the result. Its probably one I'll go on to enlarge at 16x12". My wife is also up there, somewhere by the tower, but even she resisted walking right out along the headland to the seaward edge. Too windy and two narrow a ridge to scramble across.
Kind words indeed - if I keep returning to an image then I know I am onto a winner, so its great to get that reinforcement from someone else. Its why I'm a member of APUG!
